| With a NEW Onroad course layout at Hal's and several racers getting new cars, we are scheduling a practice session for Thursday, 23 Feb 2012. Hal's would like to welcome everyone into the 2012 season and ongoing points races. I will arrive early and prep the track for practice. Please circulate to as many Onroad racers as possible to come out and enjoy some test-n-tune time with their cars. Weather is expected to be in the mid 60's. Thanks to Hal's Hobby Warehouse for providing a great facility and the opportunity to run Onroad in El Paso!

| So......I'm reading up on my Tekin "Hotwire" ESC setup and it is really neat, but can anyone give me a good set up for it to begin with. I am running a TC6 with a 10.5 and a RS Pro ESC. Seems like a lot for me..... 1) Timing 2) drag brake 3) brake strength 4) push control 5) brake minimum 6) throttle profile 7) neutral width current width 9) reverse speed 10) throttle minimum 11) timing advance 12) boost 13) turbo delay 14) (z2-z3)^2 = 4(z3-z1)(z1-z2) sin^2 alpha/2 | |

| Going to depend on gearing. I'd start some where in the 6.5 range with a tekin. You need to be in C2 mode sensored only 1) Timing 80 2) drag brake (driver dependant start at 10-15?) 3) brake strength (100 you can always change with radio EPA) 4) push control n/a 5) brake minimum 10 6) throttle profile 3 7) neutral width 10 Cool current width 9) reverse speed shouldn't have reverse turned on 10) throttle minimum 10 or lower depending on how twitchy you want your throttle trigger 11) timing advance do you mean turbo?(10) 12) boost 40 13) turbo delay .15 current limiter to 85-90 | |

| Running boosted with a 10.5 is gonna be way to fast for hals if they still have there track setup like at the last race. 13.5 or 17.5 I would run boosted. 7.5 gear ratio for 10.5 boosted | |

| There isn't a short answer and 10.5 is perfect for the track layout...
I put the starting numbers up above. I'm sure most like, jason, hector, etc will agree on them... I can post screen shots of my hotwire screens if you want. | |

| I appreciate the help. How about I bring my laptop out on the 29th and you can show me all this stuff on the software..... I am running a 21 pinion and a 87 spur and like mentioned before a 10.5T motor. The AE webpage says the TC6 has an internal gear ratio of 2.0:1. I have other pinions I can change to. What would be a good starting gearing? Thanks The calculator says | |

| I dont want any "extra" motor. I want to pin the throttle and have it go no faster than what is needed for the fastest part of the track (straight away). I think if I can set up the ESC like that, I can start there. | |

| sure bring the lappy on the 29th. I would at least go to a 23T pinion to start out. I was running gear ratio in the 5's with my Orion in my Schumacher. What you will find is the straight is so long the car will RPM out before getting to the middle of the striaght which means everyone is going to run right past you. Trust me happened to me my first time out... | |

| You want to run 23 for boosted and 27 for non-boosted 10.5. Daves first time out with the Chewmacker was well !! On-road I believe takes more skill. One crash and you can basicly kiss frst place good bye. Specially when Hector is racing.. | |

| The only corner I hate is going into the back stretch. to far in your hitting the pipe. To far out your in the sand and probably going to have this on as your car spins out. Then we had that green disc issue right in the middle of the course that so many people would launch there cars lol.. | |

| Thank you, to Hal's in enabling us to have a fantastic day of Onroad practice today! Realy appriciate so many racers who showed, which made for an awesome time and the track offered plenty of traction! Almost looked like a race day, everyone is getting faster and more consistent with their cars. It's going to be a fun and very competitive racing field for the 2012 season ahead! | |
