| THe ASCS Winged Sprint Car National Tour will be rolling through the area starting in EL Paso this Friday Night (Nov. 9th) @ El Paso Speedway Park starting at 6:30pm and Saturday night up at Mesilla Valley Raceway just west of Las Cruces.
Many WoO drivers will be in attendance; Steve Kinser will be here, so I've heard, just to throw a name out there. Many of your local favs will be running with these big boys like John Carney II, and many many more. Usually the car count for these types of shows can get up in the 50 plus cars. The X mods will be running as well.
There are a few of us going like Hector, Ray, Chris, Danny, Charles from Hal's possibly, and myself. We usually sit up high near turn one.
I would like to personally invite everyone out to this event - bring the kids, mom, friends, yourselves.
6:30 this friday | |

| I've been following the weather closely, and as you all know, EP weather can change instantly. Anyhow, it's supposed to be breezy to windy Fri night so bring jackets and blankets for the family. For those who are not familiar with EP weather, there can be a 10--15 degree difference between the temps in the city vs. out of the city, so be prepared. Hope to see you all out there. | |

| I'm super excited about the races in town this Friday at Speedway and Sat up in Las Cruces. I'm even more excited because my favorite driver of all time is going to be in attendance at The Southern New Mexico Speedway. I literally was his first major fan and he can tell you that himself! He goes by the name of Richard Griffin. I used to memorize the write ups on him when I was a boy and can still recite some of them by memory today. I also used to ride with Richard and Doc Griffin from the Speedway to the Pizza Hut on Airway and Montana where we'd eat pizza til 3a.m. sometimes. This man was literally my childhood hero! I even remember asking my mom if I could change my name to Richard Griffin when I was about 5 years old. I have tons of pictures of Richard and his car when he was driving for Ray and Suzy Humble as he drove their Mopar powered modified number 75 to several season championships in the early 80's. Now you all know why my RC car numbers were number 75. Richard started off in dirt track stock cars and quickly made his way through the ranks as a driver. He ended up in sprints and that's where he hit his stride. I have not seen Richard since I was about 14 years old. For those who may not know, Richard went on to earn several non-wing and winged championships all over the USA, and even drove Indy cars for a while. I don't think he'll be at Speedway Park tonight, but I've heard that he will be at the Las Cruces track Sat. I've decided to go to the Las Cruces show as well, so anyone who'd like to carpool - let me know! The weather is supposed to be very windy tonight, and cool. Tomorrow is supposed to be worse...so be prepared. | |
