Spec Traxxas Slash class and rules

It's not secret that the short course class is growing again and we have a lot of new people coming out to race. Because the hobby is about having fun (to me at least), we are going to start a Spec Traxxas Slash 2wd class to keep racing fun an affordable. Class starts this Sunday at Raceparty.net Raceway (Bobby's) and I'll talk to Charlie about getting it going at Hal's next week.

Class rules are as follows until further notice:

• Traxxas Slash 2wd ONLY Class
• Chassis may not be modified in any way
• Tires front and rear must be 2.2 x 3.0 Traxxas tires
• Wheels must have factory offset.
• Transmission internals must be factory
• Motor and esc must XL-5/Titan 12t or Velineon
• Wheels base and width may mot be modified in any way

Rules are geared to keep cost low and encourage attendance.

Will slash 4x4 be on this category too?

I bought a slash last night and still have the slash I started off with. Man I remember when I
used to jump from the C, to the B, to the A-main! It's gonna be all driver in this class

Aw dont worry you wont even see it or notice its there, it will be covered by a towel Ray style, Area 51 until the actual race...

running stock tires too?? yikes that should be fun...have to get jorge to order me those "special" 2.0 stock tires

Looking to start a spec class with the good old slashes and the newest sc truck the torment. We would them out of the box brushed only "no blush less". You can only change you radio and rx out. I think we need to get more new people in with out spend a whole lot. It back to set up and driving not about the cash in the car. I remember back couple of years ago when my bro and bobby and myself start races slashes and it grow to 25 to 30 trucks. We would run mains a thru d. All spec truck man that was a blast and we didn't spend big bucks on are trucks. Let see if we can get this going again at Hal's and Bobby's sc truck are still the big thing. Give me your thoughts on this and get something going.

I like the idea. will the 4x4 slash be allowed without the shaft?

This is better known as the "Box Stock" class. So since your truck isn't stock and didn't come out of a 2wd Box, it wouldn't qualify. I talked to Bobby and he wants to blow up the class at his new track. It's great for racers on a budget and in the end it all comes down to driver.

I agree we need a box stock class for newbies. Box stock slash are great for getting involved on the cheap and are almost indestructible in stock form. I think it should also be limited to 6 cell NiMH. I would recommend putting together package recommendations for newbies, so they have an idea what to buy like not buying a NiMH only charger because if the really get involved they will buy a lipo eventually...
