| What classes are regularly run out here? I know alot of people have mentioned 1/10 4x4 and 4x2 Short Course, but what else is there? Are there any spec classes?
My friend has finally caved and decided to give R/C a try so Im wanting to see whats raced around here, where, and how often. This way me and him can pick something and give it a try.

| At Hal's there are classes for: 2wd Short Course, 4x4 Short Course, 4x4 Buggy, and Open Electric(not always a class)
At Raceparty(Bobby's) there are classes for: 2wd Short Course, 4x4 Short Course, 2wd Buggy, and 2wd Stadium.
Bobby's runs every Sunday Rain or shine. Hal's runs every other Saturday.
Hal's will run a 2wd Spec class if there are enough entries but generally both tracks are run what you brung.

| I only asked about spec cause I know that helps keep cost down.
Sounds like SC (2wd or 4wd) are probably going to be our best bet right now. lol.

| A couple of us were wanting to start a spec slash class a month ago. Three makes a class so if you and a few of your buddies want to get a few slashes out on the track that would be cool. Actually there is a slash with electronics in the FS section for only 70 bucks. May be a good start for your buddy. | |

| Ive been interested in the Kyosho Ultima DB racing buggy and the new Losi XXX-SCB racing buggy. Both are 2WD buggies, but done in the style of SC/Class 1 buggies. What class would these fit in, if any? | |

| you can be competitive with any of the associated brushless RTR kits since its a 3300(~13T motor) combo. Most run 13.5 to 10.5 at raceparty, so buggy, stadium truck, or SC. I would say a traxxas slash is decent in the VXL, but I don't think it handles nearly as well as any other RTR kit without some tweaking, but its BULLETPROOF! Also I think HPI just released a brushless Blitz with a 2.4 radio. The main thing is to go brushless or buy a roller used and get a decent brushless combo. I know there is an SC10 available that is basically a FT that is pretty cheap with tires and spares. | |

| Well...my friend wasnt serious about it. Not yet at least. He wants to play around driving an R/C so I may let him play with my Losi Mini Desert Buggy before I sell it.
I ended up purchasing an HPI Mini-Trophy today online actually. Found a good deal, read alot about it. Its not a competitive truck but its very durable, very scale looking and is everything I wanted in my old Slayer.
I may not win any races but It will be fun and definitely great for bashing wherever.
I ended up not going with either of the buggys, obviously.

| Dave is right. If you want to jump into it on a budget, used is many times they way to go. Jason that little buggy was smooth.... That's a Kosho for yah! I wonder if I can just order the chassis and body from Losi and convert my xxx-sct to an xxx-scb. Krogoth Team Valadez will be building a track geared toward the 1/16 scale rigs. You should be able to race you trophy truck there when the track is up and running. | |

| To make a scb out of your sct you will need a few things besides the body and chassis. You will need a new front shock tower and body posts. front and rear bumpers are different. You can compare by down loading both manuals from losi, I did and have already considered the conversion. Total will be less than 75 bucks I figure. | |

| Thanks Brian. I pulled up both rigs on losi's site and did see a few differences. When you figure 75 bucks does that include the roll cage and window nets? | |

| No, I didn't figure cosmetics. Granted that is rtr parts. Looks like a painless operation since we already have 80 percent of the scb already. | |

| Yep it shouldn't be hard at all. The cool thing is losi is offering clear bodies so you can go custom and stand out from the Rockstar and Readylift themes. | |

| When I stopped by Value Hobbies last week, his wife said they were in the works to build a 1/18-1/24 scale off-road racing soon. Would be pretty neat to see. | |
