2012-2013 SPEED WORLD WINTER POINTS SERIES INFO THREAD

This is the spreadsheet that will be used to calculate each Class for the Points Series. Special thanks to Kenny Brosh (KBRL) from AZ for helping out with the Excel Spreadsheet. Man is that thing complex, some of the formulas for each cell are over 25-30 keystrokes. Multiply that out and about 10 cups of coffee you might understand it!!! Thanks Kenny!!!


Ladies and Gentleman,

Beginning January 5th, 2013 Speed World R/C Raceway will be hosting is 1st Annual Winter points series.

Here is the summary:

The races will be held on the following dates and total 6 races. There will be 3 throw out races, and your best 3 races will be considered in the points tally.

The doors will open around 9am and racing will begin NLT 1pm.

RACE 1: JANUARY 5TH, 2013
RACE 2: JANUARY 19TH, 2013
RACE 3: FEBRUARY 2ND, 2013
RACE 4: FEBRUARY 16TH, 2013
RACE 5: MARCH 2ND, 2013
RACE 6: MARCH 16TH, 2013

This schedule is a point series race every other week. In between points series races we will have "Club Races" and dont forget Wednesday Night Quickies WNQ! Tons of racing ALL WINTER!!! We also will be squeezing in Practice sessions in between. These will UNDOUBTEDLY help you get your laps in and help you get that SETUP that will put you on the podium. Food for thought....

Races 1-5 will be 2 heat races (qualifiers) and single A-Z mains.

Race 6 will be a triple AMAIN. (3 RACES, your best finish will count and the other 2 of the 3 will be excluded in your points for the 6th race on March 16th 2013). So 3 races, keep your best 1 run out of 3. In the event there is magically a tie, Joey will come up with something creative for the tie breaker I am sure.

The way the points work:

Top Qualifier (TQ) for races 1-5 will receive One (1) point for TQ.

All racers who attend the race will receive One (1) point for "Attendance Bonus" for each winter points series race.

A-Z Main finishers for each week:
1st Place will receive 100 points
2nd place will receive 97 points
3rd place will receive 95 points
4th place will receive 93 points
5th place will receive 91 points
6th 89 points
7th 87 points
85, 83, 81, 79....etc

So a few examples are:

102 points for 1) Attendance Bonus 1 point, 2) TQ 1 point 3) A main 1st place 100 points

98 points for 1) Attendance Bonus 1 point, 2) A Main 2nd place 97 points



The Speed World 2012-2013 Winter Points Series (SWWPS) will be your best 3 out of 6 race point totals. If you attend all 6 races you will get 6 points regardless of your performance for any races. You have a bad raceday, you can know you still will be in the hunt.


The Classes for the SWWPS are as listed below:

1) 2WD SHORT COURSE EXPERT
2) 2WD SHORT COURSE SPORTSMAN

3) 4WD SHORT COURSE EXPERT
4) 4WD SHORT COURSE SPORTSMAN

5) 8TH SCALE ELECTRIC BUGGY
6) 8TH SCALE ELECTRIC TRUGGY

7) 8TH SCALE NITRO BUGGY

10TH SCALE 2WD&4WD BUGGY (COMBINED)

In summary, please keep in mind, this is our first Points Series event at Speed World. I am sure if EVERYONE keeps in mind drivers etiquette, PROMT and great Turn Marshalling, good sportsmanship, fair play, and above all having FUN. Any bumps in the road will be minimal with everyones help and commitment to this event. I hope I have everyones SUPPORT because I will unquestionably support you in return.

why is the 2wd and 4wd 1/10th scale buggy combined? what happenes if we want to run both.

Why not change the 2wd/4wd buggy class to a open class. Would make more sence.

That class is pretty much 10th scale buggy or truck, 2wd and 4wd. You must understand we cannot run a point series for a class if there is only 1 entry. The 10th scale buggy/stadium truck class has been combined to allow it. Just like on club race week we will usually combine them. If enough show up to run separately we will consider alternatives. For now it pretty much is what it is.

TRATOR! lol j/k I feel ya. We have about 6 2wd and 5 4wd 1/10th scale buggies over here. Hopefully ill get these guys to race in two weeks. 1/8th scale electric will be huge as well.

Good to hear! See you guys soon. The new track layout is super fun. In 8th scale you really have to thread the needle; there's really no place to open it up, but it can be done, and you'd better be on your a game if you're thinking of opening her up. The track is less forgiving and there are places where mistakes can really slow you down. Looking forward to racing with you all again.

Sweet! I just got my youngest boy a TLR 22 and my oldest boy a dex 210. I really love these durango 210's. Amazingly the B44.1 is awesome as well. Think im gonna give the SC10 4x4 a break for a while well see.

Joey, finally broke down and got myself a shortcourse!! 2wd sportsman class here I come!
