Sorry that I was unable to give you guys updates. I was incredibly busy making adjustments on my cars etc. But as best I can recall - here is what happened.
There were a lot of classes. Everything from novice to expert. I believe there was a total of 15 classes! The short course classes, 4x4 and 2WD, were stacked with drivers from all over. Paul Carroll was the announcer and Race Director; he did an awesome job!
There were 3 heats on day one and I did well on my first two heats, so I qualified for the a mains in all my classes. I didn't qualify as well as I'd hoped in the 2wd - traction was hard to find. The Carroll's, Andrew Martinez all did well in the 2WD quals. The A Main in 2WD was slick as the track was dry and I struggled, and I'm still not sure where I came in. I think it was 5th or 6th. I think Paul Carroll took 1st and Wesley took 2nd.
4x4 was crazy fast. Casey Peck TQ'd all his heats. Hector Muela went 2nd and I came in 3rd. The main would find Casey Peck hitting a pipe and breaking. Hector was on rails and was pulling out his lead. Danny held 2nd while Efren and I had a battle for about 6 minutes of the race. Efren would pass me then I'd pass him. This happened over and over about 5 times when finally Efren broke and I secured 3rd. Muela was 1/2 a lap ahead by the time I was done battling Efren.
1st - Hector
2nd - Danny
3rd yours truly
In the buggy and truggy heats I did well until a racer with a Fly Sky showed up and I was lapped by almost everyone on the track in the 3rd qual. So I demanded a radio impound for the A mains. In quals for buggy I TQ's with Albert in 2nd and Jeseh in 3rd. I went home and made some changes to the buggy and in the A main my car was very easy to drive and was smooth, so I was able to lap most of the field and take home the #1, Jeseh took 2nd, and Albert 3rd.
In truggy - Eddie Martinez was the TQ, me second. I made some changes to my truggy that did help and I was able to pull up to Eddie twice during the main, but was unable to capitalize and ended up 2nd. Jeseh cam in 3rd.
The gas car mains were full with Casey again on TQ and Hector in 2nd. After a 45 minute main I believe it was
1 - Casey
2 - Hector
3 - Jonathan Marshall
The gas truggy was insane as Casey was putting down 31 second laps! He was drifting like a sprint car through every turn. It was incredible to watch him. He was first in the end, and I'm not sure who took the other spots.
Overall, it was a great time. two full days of racing and I'm ready to do it all again!!
The trace was much better than it's been lately, as they watered it about every 2 to three races.
Tire of choice was: AKA Gridirons and Enduros - These are what most of the winners won on. A super Soft compound worked best. Most tires with a short pin and bars in the center was the way to go.
I brought home a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finish. Overall, I'm pretty happy with my results.
The Wounded Warrior race was insane. These guys were having a blast and driving the tires off of their Slash 4x4's. I laughed all the way through their races. Great times.
A great success!
