The sc scene has grown quite a bit and the Blitz is the perfect balance of durability and tunability. The two things I would recommend is purchasing the STRC aluminum steering rack and a metal gear servo. Also two more things you're going to want to do(not really hop ups) is tighten down your servo saver and get longer ball studs for the rear mount and back em up with a nut. The truck is a very solid truck and with the right set up you can really kick some butt at the track.

+1 for servo and aluminum rack, a good set of tires is a must too, goosebumps or calibers

so starting off in sc racing would you suggest an hpi blitz? I was leaning towards a traxxas slash.

Also is there a track in west El Paso? Las cruces?

I know of Hals, and Valdez is supposed to have one soon, then theres Radical Racers on O' Leary, the new dirt oval on Emerson (both in the FAR east), but im trying to save gas money.

I would say the blitz is a good start for an short course truck. A lot of guys are running SC10's but they are a little more brittle than the blitz. The slash is a great starter truck but if you plan on racing competitively you will eventually want to get a Blitz, SC10, or Losi XXX-sct(like i did). I don't know of any any tracks West or In Cruces yet. I just know of Hals and Bobby's. I know there is one guy trying to start a spec slash class for those who want to race on a budget at the Emerson track(bobby's).

Blitz or Factory Team SC10, stay away from the Slash if you are going to race Hal's or Bobby's. Broc has a race ready Blitz for sale with a Tekin esc/motor and DX3S radio. If your interested send me a message and I'll get you his number
