So I know danny had his 12th scale over 100... anyone else done it? I have a friend online that is on a quest for 200 in an 1/8th of a mile on 6s. He has already done 119 on 2s in an 1/8 of a mile. His first practice runs were 175 and 177.
So since my 8th late model is just sitting around I decided to see if it will break the 100+MPH mark. Its currently running on 6S with Tekin 2650, 15T pinion and 48 spur. The biggest problem is I don't have a body(will monday). The aerodynamics of a body really help vacuum it to the ground. I have had it up to 77 down my street, but its pretty narrow and when things go bad at 80 they go REAL bad, so I haven't chanced it. 77 was about 3/4 throttle and temps at 130. It doesn't help that the chassis is left turn only so its offset. I have it going pretty straight at this point and just really need a body to be more confident being on the throttle. I'll take some video when I'm ready.
***** Realize this is an 8lb car doing an excess of 80MPH. Someone could really get hurt. If you do choose to try it, be safe about it

So I was talking with my buddy and he said the aero dynamics is what will get me there. Said the last 20mph will be tough as its all setup. Ran wide open with 4S yesterday at 62. Looks like gearing is a little off. Made a tire change to some shorter tires and WOW it really makes a difference in the speed of the car. The body for it will be here today along with some premounted belted racing tires.
I scoped out where Danny ran his 12th at yesterday. Should be a great place to run it up. Probably give it a try on Saturday!

I thought Danny had done over 100, but it was 86. It was a RC12R5. He was running it on 3S!!!

86 with a 12th scale is pretty good . . its tiny and much less likely to shatter a small kids leg half way down the street at near a hundred miles an hour like a monster 1/8th scale . . hurling down the street like a 8 pound brick . . . either way it sounds fun as heck

Dave you should have NOOOOOOO problem at all reaching 100 . . if i were you I would be looking at 120 . . that thing is unbelieveable , it was lifting the front wheel at well over 70 and stretching the hell out of all four tires under acceleration and coasted thru the trap at 71 that thing is a beast . . A body , small wing with large side panels , a front splitter , maybe a rear diffuser and taller gearing 125- 130 ish

Just picked up a 25T pinion. Going from 15 or 16 to 25 tooth should get me there!

Time to revive this thread! So the 25 pinion wouldn't fit with the spur gear I had(48), so I got a 43. I noticed at speed because the chassis that is on there is offset for left turn only it was wanting to pull to the left at very high speed. Since I'm going to have some time this weekend I'm going to move all the hardware to the Losi 2.0 chassis and swap the spur gear. If its ready by Saturday I'm going to take it out to global reach for some test runs with the oval wedge body. I need a sheet of lexan so I can cut the front and rear windows for more airflow to the wing to allow more rear down force. Gonna try it with glued on rubber tires first, but I have a feeling those are going to come unglued. I have a set of foams, but they are kind of short compared to the rubber tires, so I won't get as much speed out of them...
we'll see what happens this weekend!

So I got the front and rear swapped to the 2.0 buggy chassis. When I put 43T spur on the center diff it hits the motor mount as its a smartdiff case, not the standard losi diff case. The gear is a little wider than the stock gear as well and I don't have a mill to cut it right. I tried to shim it, but there is NO room at all. I will cut down the motor mount tonight to get it not to touch. The 43T spur and 25T pinion will fit no problem! I'm almost sure a 30 would fit which is the largest MOD1 I have been able to find.

Got the kinks worked out!!! Car without body skips on 4S and I can't get it over half throttle on 6S. Its WAY easier to drive with the buggy chassis instead of the left turn chassis. Painted the body up and just needs to be cut. Might do a test run down the street by 5!

Tested it and the body really helped keep it glued down. It was STEWPID fast and I could barely get it stopped by the end of the street! Only problem is the body didn't allow any air flow to the electronics... I tested it a little toooooooooooo long and SMOKED the ESC Now I have to send it in!

pretty sweet for speed junkies out of the box 100mph. Strange they chose 1/7th scale??. The losi 8ight isn't the ideal car to do 100mph that is for sure! Its super heavy.

Ohhh it will do it. I just needed better cooling and not trying it 4 or 5 times... The only times I had run it was without body, so there was lots of air flow. I was running a Tekin RX8, but think I might go with the MMM.
A bunch of those Traxxas on the on-road track would be SICK!!! Any idea on sticker shock?

Hello there guys, my kid 14 yr old got to 65 with his Rustler VXL, I guess now he wants to get it down to break it into pieces since he installed an 1/8 Brushless Mamba Monster motor/esc.
Saw one modified Rustler on You Tube that does little over 100mph and wants to do the same. Now needs a good set of tires that would last him at least two runs before tearing up. That being if the car does not break apart first...
Any advise on which may work?? Even by re-enforcing with duck tape ?? Any advise on this ??

Get 8th scale adapters and a set of foams. A speed record holder friend of mine said the foams hold up the best and will last way longer than 2 runs. I'm running foams or Proline Road Rage, but worry about the rubber tires coming unglued. They have held up so far. When I get my ESC back I'm going to run the foams!
